My Rottie had a large bladder stone removed a couple of months ago and after her last follow-up the vet said he saw crystals in the urinalysis but nothing showed in the ultra-sound. He said the crystals are probably from bladder infections and he wants to put her on Science Diet W/D to be on the safe side. From what I’ve read Science Diet is crap and pushed by vets usually for contractual reasons with Hills, which is what my vet sells.

I’ve been feeding both my dogs Canidea for the last couple years, my other guy is just fine. My Rottie was about 4 yrs old when I got her from the pound, perhaps it’s a prior food problem??? I’ve also heard a lack or water can be a problem?

So my question is, is what’s so special about Science Diet W/D, and is there a better food option, like Innova, Artemis, Horizon, etc.?

I absolutely want to do what’s best for my doggies, but I don’t want to feed them a sub-standard dog food, like Science Diet, if there’s a better alternative.
